Buttonholes

The tradition of wedding buttonholes, as with all wedding flowers, originated in Greece where male wedding party members would wear a small bunch of fragrant herbs pinned close to their heart.

Buttonholes traveled to Europe during Medieval times where knights would wear their lady's colours upon their chest to show their everlasting love and commitment. Even without their armour these colours would be displayed on their left lapel, just as they are still worn by grooms today.

Traditionally, a simple rose or carnation in a colour taken from the bride's bouquet was worn. Nowadays, modern grooms are wearing everything from miniature bouquets to stunning orchids or even sunflowers on their lapel.

At Creative Blooms we take pleasure in ensuring the buttonholes the male wedding party wear are simple and reflect the wedding theme or style. Prices start from $20 for a single rose or dendrobium orchid on an ivy leaf. Costs increase as additional flowers or embellishments are added.

* Minimum order amount for delivery is $40. This does not include the delivery fee. Orders can be picked up from our Carine workshop *
